I had mixed feelings about this book and liked the plot but did not like the illustrations. The idea of this story was very relatable for children and I think would engage the reader. The main character is a little girl who gets teased at school for a having an old bike. She sees a new model in the store and wants it so badly that she finds many ways to try and destroy her old bike. While she tries to get rid of the bike, she is not successful; until one day when her parents surprise her with new parts and she must recover the broken bike to properly fix it. I like this plot and how the rising action comes on the main character for her poor actions in the beginning of the book. The climax also shows a turning point for the character’s behavior as she becomes more understanding towards her parents. I did not like the illustrations in this story and think parts of it were more exaggerated than they needed to be. While it is for small children and maybe they would like it, I’m afraid parts are too dark and scary for young students. The main message of this book is that, while sometimes we want the newest and greatest think and will do anything to get it, we have to think about our actions before we behave irrationally. ( ) This is a great book for younger children. It's about a young girl being teased about her bicycle, and having to overcome and learn to accept what she has. Students need to know that their parents can't and won't always buy the newest things, and they they need to work with what they have. This is a great story that students will relate to. This book is for PreK- 2nd grade. It revolves around Nona, a girl constanlty teased for her bike and her parents' refusal to buy her a new one. She decides to throw away her bike so that the teasing will end. She ends up racing in a biking contest with all her bike parts refurbished by her parents. This book has a great lesson of acceptance. Overall, great read! I think this is a good story that most children of all ages can relate to. In the story the girl has an old bike and wants a new one. Her old one is falling apart and she believes that she shoud get a new one and not just any bike but a red racer. Although children feel they need new things parents do not always agree. That is the story line of this book. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
