'The Little Wooden Doll' shares some themes, but is a little more whimsical. A wooden doll (of the type known as Dutch wooden, Grodnertal wooden, or simply a Penny wooden depending which doll tsar you're asking) sits in an old and dusty attic. She has made friends with the mice and the spiders as no human remembers she exists and no children live in the house. She is content, but longs for a child to love and name her.
It should come as no surprise that her wish is granted, though not in the way she inititally suspects.
This was cute, I liked the simple illustrations, but doesn't have the emotional weight of her more famous story. ( )
