A life hangs in the balance . . .A king held for ransom, a country under thumb, clans at one another's throats. Malcolm of clan MacKintosh has enough to worry about without finding a mysterious lass sleeping on the side of his road. He tries to help her -- in his overbearing, arrogant way -- and winds up flat on his back. God's blood, who is this woman . . . and why does she captivate him so?And only she can tip the scales. The fortune-teller said something about saving a life, then zapped Alethia Goodsky back to fifteenth-century Scotland -- a land bristling with broadswords and intrigue. Alethia is no damsel in distress, though, even if brawny, blue-eyed Malcolm has sworn to protect her. With her wits and special abilities, she races to solve the gypsy's mystery and protect those she's come to love. The stakes climb higher and enemies close in, forcing Alethia to choose between finding her way home . . . and staying true to her Highlander.… (altro)

Loved it!

I'm a huge fan of well written time travel romance novels. Especially if Scotland comes into play. Diana Gabaldon and her "Outlander" series probably wins as my favorite. This book easily equalled 'Outlander' in my estimation. the dialogue was quick, witty, and hysterical. Especially when Malcolm and his family/friends try to use the colloquial terms used by Alethia aka True. The romance is great fun to see build. Yes there was attraction from the start, but the friendship and trust grew as did the love. I adored the introduction of young Hunter....a deaf ward that True adopts as her own son. Teaching him to communicate via sign language. I'm curious how many years too early did she teach Hunter and the warriors the sign language. historically speaking, I'm not too sure if it existed yet. Either way, I loved how she opened Hunters eyes to a wealth of possibilities. With True and Malcolm he became a child again...no longer a ghost amongst the clan. The poor, orphaned deaf boy that everyone looked over has now become a vital part of the family. True seems to quickly become the heartbeat of the clan. I for one cant wait for the next book in this series. I look forward to seeing all the adventures and mischief True and company get into. I greedily read this novel in two hours. Thankful for the ad on my Kindle alerting me to this novels existence in the first place. Upon reading the synopsis I instantly got a copy....now I have to while away the time until it's sequel comes out in July. Thanks for sharing these amazing friends and adventures with us! ( )

SENSUALITY RATING: YES very mild mild mild Profanity; YES Sexual Encounters ie., "swollen bud of her sex..."; NOT for YA eyes.

GENRE: Historical Scottish Romance

SETTING: 21st century New York Central Park to 15th century Scottish Highlands

CENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTER: ALETHIA GOODSKY – Biracial; Gifted in truth telling; Talented violinist.

CENTRAL MALE CHARACTER: MALCOLM MacKINTOSH - son to the Laird; Warrior; Has his own ideas about how a woman needs to be protected.

SYNOPSIS: She did her best to avoid the tent. Then, she was coaxed into the tent and her life would be forever changed. A woman trying to get into Julliard as a violinist winds up on a dirt road surrounded by men in kilts. She is definitely not Sassenach. He unfortunately gets a kick, elbow, bite and any other damage that a woman on the attack can provide.

WHAT I LIKED: She is part NATIVE AMERICAN. A fantastic and great change for a historical Scottish romance character. Book written with some humor and sarcasm between characters.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: Descriptive sex does not a great book make; "her bud", "between her legs", swelling groin, etc. HOWEVER, the romantic attraction in this romance book was fantastic.

OVERALL RATING: (4) stars because I can appreciate when sexual relationships happened however I cannot appreciate description of those relationships. ( )

I haven't read a romance in a while, so I'm double glad that this was the one I picked up. I usually enjoy a good time travel romance, even though most have some problems or gaps. This one didn't have any gaps, or things that didn't make sense, or people acting out of character for who they are (supposed to be).

True (Alethia) is a wonderful heroine: strong, funny, sassy and smart.

For sure one of the best time travels I've read in a long time. ( )
