I just learned more about the dung beetle than I ever cared to know, but this was an informative book with beautiful and detailed illustrations. It would be great for an elementary lesson on insects, animal science, or even the circle of life. The book has a thorough glossy with bolded terms and pronunciation of unfamiliar words and there is some additional information and scientific facts about dung beetles in the back, there is also a brief bibliography. The book would be a good addition to any elementary library. ( ) Summary: Nonfiction picture book about a poop eating bug, the dung beetle. Explains the different roles and lifecycle of the Dung Beetle. Dung Beetles are a lot busier and amazing than what you probably think! Reflection: This book has a lot of interesting facts about the Dung Beetle and would be a good source for students researching the bug. It also has a nice author's note with fun facts, a glossary, and bibliography. Any book about the topic of poop will find a willing audience, and this is such a tasteful, informative book. "Somewhere in the world right now an animal is lightening its load" the tale begins. Within 15 seconds of dropped poop, the dung beetle will arrive, as the dung "provides all the water and nourishment they need." There are three kinds of dung beetles, dwellers, rollers, and tunnelers, each with its own way of working. Competition is fierce as they carry on their work, so that adds the tension of plot to this engaging life cycle book. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
