I am very glad to be invited to write a foreword for the first volume of this Year Book; that a whole book can be devoted to one section of yachting is a remarkable indication of the tremendous increase in interest in dinghy sailing which has taken place during the last twenty-five years, and a remarkable tribute to those who have worked so hard for our sport.
(Foreword).
Yachting record of 50 or 60 years ago paid little attention to small boat racing results, but it seems clear that the classes of open 14 ft. dinghies were racing on the Norfolk Broads as long ago as 1890 and in th West Country a few years later.
