This may be one of those books that I enjoy from an adult's perspective but might not resonate with kids so much. The story is very simple...a lonely kid finds a beached whale and keeps it in his bathtub for company. Don't question how he managed to get a whale into his bathtub! His dad comes home from work and apologizes for not realizing his son was lonely, and then they bring the whale back to the ocean together. It's cute, in a melancholy way. The illustrations really make this one. I love the blobby whale. This story is about a little boy who saves a beached whale by bringing him home. His father, who is a fisherman does not notice at first. Eventually, the father finds the baby whale in the bathtub and they agree that the whale must go back to the ocean. This could be used to discuss unrealistic details within fictional books, when comparing them to informational literature. Benji Davis has created a masterpiece of word and illustration in The Storm Whale. The story is very touching, the illustrations magnificent. This is the story of young Noi and his father, who live at the sea's edge with six cats. In this first book (there is a sequel - The Storm Whale in Winter is the second, as just as beautiful) they rescue a lost storm whale. Highly Recommended. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
