I enjoyed this one far more than its prequel, Reboot. The dual perspective narration was a good choice, as it gave us a deeper look at Callum and made me like him a lot more as a character. In the previous book, he came off as weak and sort of pathetic, but in this one, he became an incredibly caring and emotionally strong character. I loved seeing him step out from behind Wren's shadow and take charge of things. While he may not be as physically powerful as Wren, he still has his own kind of strength. This also equalized the relationship between him and Wren, as I always felt Wren had to constantly take care of him before.

Wren, on the other hand, remained somewhat flat and dull in her narration, although I enjoyed it much more than in the previous book. She has grown since then, and is slowly beginning to find her compassion and humanity. I found her struggle with the central moral dilemma in the book rather irritating, as she waffles for far too long over what to do, although it was understandable, given her life experiences up to that point (and the book really drives home the point that she was essentially brainwashed by HARC). I did like the fact that the moral issue of killing humans was dealt with in this book as it wasn't really addressed at all in the first book.

Rebel was a great read, with an engaging plot and interesting ideas. It really showcased Callum's strong moral convictions and conscience, and I felt he was the real star in this sequel. ( )

This book ended exactly how I figured it would - there was some crazy parts unexpected but in the end it was predictable - I think perhaps it could have been summed up in one book instead of 2, still it was enjoyable. ( )

Rebel
Rebel is the second book to a two book series and the first book of the series is called reboot. Rebel is about Wren the longest reboot to be dead at 178 minutes. Everyone is afraid of her well, until Callum 22 came. She was to be his teacher but Callum was in love with her and she herself thought that since she was dead for so long that she was not to feel emotion or at least, that's what she was told. She ended up falling for Callum and now they are on a mission to release all reboots and find the safe place for all reboots. They find the mission where it is safe for all reboots or reboot refuge if you will. But, they run into a little bit of a problem there, Micah the leader and protector of the mission is trying to wipe out the human race as we know it. Wren and Callum will not be a part of it so Micah is trying to kill them as well. There are many faculties that are holding the reboots all throughout Texas and Wren and Callum intend to free them all. Will they be able to fight Micah and his reboot army off or will her and her love perish under his waves of death and loss?

When I read this book I was very excited about what the author had written for me this time because I was so curious about reboot when I had first started reading it. I read reboot any time I got the chance and I did the same with Rebel and it was super worth it. I read at late hours in the night and about three in the morning during the day and sometimes in classes that I had time for before the bell. When I read about the safe haven and Micah it had me struck dead. He dropped Wren out of a plane and she still survived to save Callum. Her love for him is eternal and most loves in books seem that way but they aren't always that way in the next book. That is probably one of the most captivating things about this book series, the love that they have for one another is so pure yet they are so young. When I first read that Wren wanted to free all reboots I was a bit skeptical and scared but I knew she could do it but I didn't understand how many complications she had to face. She is probably the most fearless and amazing person that I have ever read about. When I read I imagine that I am in the book and it is pretty cool but for the first time in my whole life I thought to myself “ I want to be her.” and I have never thought that towards anyone ever before and this series is by far the best series that I have read all year.
