Interweaving the fate of the Mohawk Nation with the destiny of two lovers, Sara Donatis compelling novel creates a complex, profound, passionate portait of an emerging America.

Praise for Into the Wilderness

My favorite kind of book is the sort you live in, rather than read. Into the Wilderness is one of those rare stories that let you breathe the air of another time, and leave your footprints on the snow of a wild, strange place. I can think of no better adventure than to explore the wilderness in the company of such engaging and independent lovers as Elizabeth and her Nathaniel.Diana Gabaldon

Each time you open a book you hope to discover a story that will make your spirit of adventure and romance sing. This book delivers on that promise.Amanda Quick

A beautiful tale of both romance and survivalHere is the beauty as well as the savagery of the wilderness and, at the core of it all, the compelling story of the love of a man and a woman, both for the untamed land and for one another.Allan W. Eckert

Ms. Donato tells a good tale. The characters have dimension and the historical details seem well researched. I wince when I see an incorrect use of the word “which” when “that” is the appropriate one. My personal problem, I realize. This word choice arose frequently. It interrupted the flow for me, but I pressed on and am glad I did. ( )

This book introduced me to Sara Donati and I fell in love with the entire series. Complex characters, believable situations and emotions are a staple of Ms Donati's books. By the time I finished the first books I was looking forward to the next one. Because I bought the third book first, I was able to read those first three right away...always a plus. ( )

I liked this book well enough, but honestly, something was lacking for me. I'm not sure I can pinpoint what it is exactly, but I can say I was a little perturbed by two things for certain: the random shifts in POV and the fanfiction-esque insert of characters from other fictional stories.

If you decide to read this book looking for Outlander, just know that they aren't really that similar. You're bound to have the same opinion as me: something crucial is missing to make this book truly magical. That being said, while it will never make my favorites list as the first Outlander book did, it was still enjoyable enough to read the once. ( )
