I am having such fun with this series! I've read a few manga series before (Death Note, Vampire Knight, Rosario + Vampire) and of those, this is my favorite. Protagonist Najika Kazami is so exuberant that she practically bounces off the page! This series includes a helpful in-depth explanation of Japanese honorific. I enjoyed the notes from Matsumi Ando, sprinkled throughout, and the featured recipes are included at the end of the manga! I definitely want to try one of Najika's creations at home sometime soon. This is also a boarding school setting!

This will be my review for the entire Kitchen Princess series.

Yes, it's girly. Yes, it's pretty shallow. But I like it. It's a fun, light manga series that just puts you in a better mood when you want something cute, funny, and predictable. It's pretty much a classic shojo.

Najika loves to cook. She enjoys creating new combinations of ingredients, experimenting with variations on classic dishes, and watching the reactions of people to eating her cooking. In fact, she even has an almost unbelievable gift for cooking delicious food.

It is this talent that has gotten Najika into the academy that she attends. But she isn't just there to hone her cooking skills; she also has another mission. To find a boy who once saved her life, and then comforted her by giving her a special flan. But who was he?

Is it Sora, the kind and gentlemanly young man who extends a hand of welcome and warmth to Najika the moment she arrives at the academy? Is is his brother Daichi, the sharp-edged athlete who keeps trying to find ways to get closer to her? Or is it someone else altogether?

A light, humorous comedy with some good, lovable characters. You'll find yourself really caring about the good-intentioned Najika and her passion for making people happy through cooking. And the recipes for all the food are included! ( )

It's okay till now, I like the food cooked in it, I prefer Daichi, I always like naughty boys, Sora is too good. I want to kill Akane!! I encountered too many girls like her, Najika should deal with her quickly and smartly, mean girl!

Basically, Flan is Crème caramel. I LOVE this dessert. It's so light and yummy. ( )

This manga is really cute. I mean this within the context of shoujo manga, which can be really sugar sweet. Still, I don't think it's disgustingly saccharine.

The heroine Najika is one of the most upbeat, optimistic characters I've ever encountered. She is not however endless perk in the face of everything. You have moments where you can see how hard it sometimes is for her to put on a brave face. These moments show how strong she is.

The romance elements are kind of cute and kind of obnoxious with essentially three love interests (although there might be two, because one is a guy from her past and could be one of the two brothers). Right. So guy #1 is a boy who gave her flan when she was crying as a child following the death of her parents. The flan inspired her love for cooking and taught her to focus on the good in life. She's looking for this boy and ready to fall in love with him as soon as she finds him. At the school she goes to, which I think she suspects the guy attends (don't remember), she meets a guy who's initially mean, then nice, and his brother, who's ridiculously kind to the point of being unreal. They're basically Yuki/Kyo from Fruitsbasket, only their characters don't get developed so much.

I also love the cooking parts, even though I don't like cooking myself. It's nice when a heroine has a passion, especially as it gives them something to think about besides romantic drama. ( )
