I sort of expected this book to be about some children who time lost. It was not. I mean, sort of, they exist in this book's universe, but the title really was misleading for me.

Anyway, what I got was a book about a woman, Rachel Harris, the only woman on Earth to have a natural pregnancy and birth in 27 years. Sadly, Rachel's daughter died in an accident when she was young, and when we meet Rachel she is still grieving and being cared for by her husband and close friends. On this Earth, time travel exists, and it's used to create the Worldwide Lotto, where you can win 2 million dollars or a child from the future. (Because apparently in the future they have children to give? IDK. Don't dwell on it, you won't get an answer for a long time.) Rachel's husband enters them in the Lotto without her knowledge and they win. She agrees to accept a child and makes the trip to the future, along with other winners from her city, to pick up her new child. She's instructed to tell no one of what she sees or experiences in the future, with the punishment being having her new child taken from her. There isn't much to see, so she isn't concerned, until she gets home and finds a computer chip and case in her new baby's baggage. Her husband doesn't want her to play it and break the law, but Rachel can't resist. That message from the future starts Rachel's odyssey.

Okay, that's a lot, right? That's just the tiniest beginning of the book. Things happen. Lots of things happen. Rachel ends up involved in a revolution that spans time and space.

I liked this book but wow was it long. There are quite a few plotholes here, most of them stemming from the length, I think, because it had to have been hard to keep all of that straight. It could have used another going over by an editor to pick those things out, and you're going to have to accept the plotholes or not read the book. (They aren't horrendous, imo, but they do exist.)

In an adventure through time to the year 2013 and back again, this is a page turning sci-fi thriller that will keep you on the edge of the page and will most definitely throw you for a complete loop in the end. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a twisting plot, science fiction, and an all around good read.
