In another beautiful book in the Scientist in the Field series, readers can learn about the efforts to keep cheetahs safe from a world that threatens them. The dramatic decline in the number of cheetahs in the last hundred years have led some scientists to dedicating their lives to the study and protection of these creatures. The book details efforts to help people understand cheetahs and be able to work with them with efforts such as giving farmers dogs to protect their lands so the farmers don't feel the need to kill cheetahs.

Chasing Cheetahs: The Race To Save Africa's Fastest Cat has beautiful full-page photographs of cheetahs and the people who study them, pages of easy facts, and a story to read full of real-life environmental heroes. Readers will learn a lot about the scientific, cultural, and political process of protecting endangered animals as well as a lot about cheetahs. Young readers will be able to be inspired by the gorgeous photographs, the lives of the scientists, and the beautiful animals themselves. ( )

This informational text takes readers on a deeper look into the Cheetah Conservation Funds in Namibia, Africa, and what they are doing with cheetahs. This would be a great book to introduce students to wildlife preservation and interesting cheetah facts. The beautiful photos are also highly captivating. This would be a fitting book for those in upper elementary to early middle school as the text maybe a little more difficult. However, it could still be used in early elementary classrooms as the book consists of amazing pictures. This book is over 70 pages (total of 80 pages). ( )

This book not only gives great information, but also talks about saving cheetahs from extinction. I like that the book is told from the perspective of someone, the one who rescues them, who has dealt with cheetahs up close, something the kids would appreciate. There are some maps in here that give perspective relative to other countries as well. This gives facts about cheetahs in the wild, but also talks about rescuing cheetahs and nursing them back to health, then releasing them into the wild. I would use this book as an introduction to en endangered species unit for instance.

This book is very educational, and provides insight into the problems faced by Cheetahs. This book is told through Laurie Marker's story. Marker can be seen in multiple photos showing and receiving affection from her Cheetahs the Ambassadors. The illustrations are photographs.

This book started to get boring, towards the end. I liked reading about cheetahs and seeing the pictures, but the book started to become "wordy". Too much reading for the pages and type of book. ( )
