Kept me on the edge of my seat and left me wanting the next book NOW!!!. Great Job Chris!!! Keep 'em coming!!!! ( ) Second in the Delphi Trilogy, Chris Everheart’s The Delphi Deception starts where book one left off, but includes just enough nicely woven backstory to make it perfectly readable on its own. Of course, the ending’s a serious cliff-hanger, but enough questions are answered and mysteries solved to make the story satisfying on its own. And book III is coming soon—I hope! The story’s told in a convincing teen voice as Zach struggles against the system, eager to save the girl he accidentally led into trouble, and reluctant to trust anyone. His mistrust is not unfounded. Ashley’s growing sicker in the hospital. Her treacherous sister’s growing more ambitious. And the mysterious Larry remains an enigmatic mix of helpful and weird. A boy seeking purpose, a girl speaking in riddles, hidden identity, and the historical oracles of Delphi all combine in a tale that blends modern science with ancient myth and leaves a seventeen-year-old to understand the poetry of a prophet. The Delphi Deception is a fast exciting tale with great characters, fascinating plot, and a beautifully imagined small-town, large-world location. Book one starts the story with a perfect sense of intrigue. This book continues it, bringing Zach closer to finding his purpose in life. And I can’t wait for book three. Disclosure: I was offered a free copy and I offer my honest review. Up to this point, Zach has been making quite a few rash and unwise decisions. It also appears he hasn’t learned his lesson yet. He decides to take a shortcut to his destination by crossing the university campus after escaping the hospital. The place where everyone who wants to find him is based, not only that, he walks within sight of the library, scene of the break-in from the night before. He has a close call with a wondering guard which finally seems to wake him up to the danger he is in and he better start thinking before acting. Zach still has a few things in his apartment and makes one last trip to get supplies and his laptop. Unfortunately he runs into Ashley’s sister Katie, who wants what Zach has, answers. During negotiations even more trouble shows up. It forces Katie to accept an arrangement and gives Zach a little breathing room. Zach and Katie’s alliance is the primary story in this book. What each is willing to do for what they want, and the questions come up, are the answers worth it? During the first couple chapters of this book I was ready to throw it across the room. Zach’s been doing one dumb thing after another and doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. He finally settles down and quits letting his desires rule his actions unchecked. At this point is where I started enjoying the book. Zach is a bright kid who doesn’t always stop and think before he acts, which tends to get him in trouble, and now there are people who want him dead. Not a good combination. It was actually a pretty good story and had several good surprises. I do plan to eventually read the 3rd (final?) book whenever it is published. There are a few places where both books irked me, mostly Zach acting rashly pretending to be thinking it through. Anyway it was a decent read, well written with a cool premise. Good young adult novel. I will start with my previous review : http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/... Well I didn't change my mind - just love it.... It is smart fast enjoyable plot (please, read my previous review).... the charcters that I like ine the 1st book ... I still like.... and yes .... expect very interesting twists in the plot.... Mr. Everheart - I am glade that you use the fable of the frog and the scorpion.... and beside my love to fables it is so right to use them in connection to this book. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
