I really am enjoying Maggie Osborne's pretty atypical (genre-wise) women. I find that historical romance novels with "unconventional" women tend to have the same type: conventionally beautiful, educated, can shoot and ride, but maybe doesn't like sewing? Sometimes it's dancing, but she always disdains at least 1 traditionally feminine pursuit. But the "unconventional" type is a type.

But here, like in [b: Silver Lining|467409|Silver Lining|Maggie Osborne|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/books/1320527509s/467409.jpg|455769], these women are completely realized. Even in [b: The Best Man |731544|The Best Man|Maggie Osborne|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/books/1344271141s/731544.jpg|717734] where the women skew more closely to the conventions (sorry, that word has already appeared too many times) of their time, Osborne twists those expectations. I am pretty impressed. ( )

Fun and lighthearted western romance. I loved the main character 6 foot tall Jenny Jones. The hero, Ty, was sweet and did a good job convincing Jenny and me to fall in love with him. Six year old Graciela was a stretch. I felt like she read more as say a 9 year old than a 6 year old. But the whole thing was sort of over the top so I just went with it. There were lots of gun fights where I don't see how everyone wasn't dead but it was sort of like old TV shows where everyone but the good guys were really bad shots. The most outstanding part of the story was the dialog between the three leads. ( )

Actually, my real feel for this book is 4.5.
I really enjoyed it and so far, Maggie Osborne is probably my new favourite discovery for 2019.
