I really liked this book. I was a little leery about reading it at the onset due to the complex nature of the relationships (I'm generally not fond of stories where the third partner is coming in after the other two are already involved) plus the fact that it's a story dealing with "destined mates" where they are all not mated equally.

Here you had Gage and Russ already involved with one another prior to the introduction of Kaden. It became slightly complicated with their mating woes due to the fact that Russ is Gage's mate but the reverse isn't true (therefore Russ, though he loves Gage, is constantly searching for a mate of his own). He finds that mate in Kaden, however things are further complicated when Kaden recognizes Gage (and not Russ) as his own mate.

However, as per Amber's usual flair she drew three characters whom I liked and Kaden personality was endearing, as was his desire to step out of the the role society had placed him in.

Add in what is going on outside the bedroom (a deadly war with vampires, a traitor within the pack, and a threat from Kaden's past) and it makes for an interesting read.

Furthermore, the social structure set up in this book fascinates me. The different socio-types of the wolves here and the types of jobs and functions they are expected to perform is interesting and slightly different than I've found in other books.

I will say that all of the outside issues (aside from their relationship) are not resolved and I anticipate that this is due to this being the first in a series and those other "issues" are part on an ongoing storyline.

I look forward to read the continuing adventures of the Under Wolves. ( )

3.5 stars. Kaden's great, and the book is a good setup for what will follow. ( )
