No pugilist at rest, but a couple of excellent stories. ( )

I was immediately caught up in the frenzied, almost surreal characters and pace of the stories and their improbable but catchy characters. Jones writes with crazed humor, barbed imagination, and an eye on the dark clouds on the horizon. It's a good thing he's a writer, because if he actually did some of the things he writes about he'd no longer be walking the streets. I raced through these stories so fast that now I have to re-read the damn things so I can say something intelligent about them. ( )
