Chanel makes the excuse of joining the police force to stop her boss’s husband from forcing her into an affair. After she said it, the lie gained momentum, her entire small town thought she was joining the police. So, of course, she applied and was accepted. At Police Training she discovered she really wanted to be a police officer, to make a difference. Assigned to King’s Cross station she sees her first dead body and learns there is a serial killer; a serial killer who targets prostitutes. But as Chanel keeps saying “prostitutes are people too”; she wants to get justice for these women. She begins her own investigation of the crime scenes … Fun, cozy mystery with drag queens and a Mum that decides to shed her Mum image. The plot is believable, the characters are slightly enhanced to the eccentric. I enjoyed it! The character reminded me a lot of Elle Woods from Legally Blonde. To get out of a bad situation at work, Chanel somehow ends up joining the New South Wales’ Police Force. This book is a good combination of a chicklit, cozy mystery, and comedy rolled into one. The perfect type of book to take the beach to read on a sunny day. I freely chose to review this ARC from an unknown author, I am glad I took the chance as this book is hilarious! Chanel Smith opened her big mouth and told her sleazy boss's husband that she was joining the police department in order to escape his unwanted advances, and naturally living in a small country town the word spread like wildfire! Returning home, her mum told her how proud she was of her as word had reached her mum before she could explain. In allof her life she'd yearned for this so now to apply. Just her luck there was a need for female officer and now she couldn't tell the truth because the whole town was there to send her off! Suddenly overwhelmed with the town's love she was on her way to make the town proud of her unknowing the trouble she'd get into on her first day there... Ms. Usher spins a roaring good book as Chanel encounters drag queens, gay women, and even a murderer. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

I loved this book. The main character, Chanel is lovable and she treats everyone the same way i.e. not to judge. Even though it is a work of fiction, it is quite realistic . A great read! ( )
