This book is about a boy that loves to play in glue. In art class, he squishes out as much of it as he can onto his desk and jumps in it, when he tries to get up he can't because the glue has already started to dry. This book teaches kids responsibility and that there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

When I saw the cover of this book, I thought I just had to read this book. It was a good book about all the ways that glue can be used. What I really think is interesting is that the book is told in first person. This is just awesome to some readers because the imagination that a good friend is talking to them has got to be nice. Matty is an exuberant art student whose favorite medium is glue. In art class his teacher reminds him not to use too much glue, or his project won’t dry. Matty, however, thinks differently and finds the biggest glue bottles he cans and squeezes all the gloop onto his desk where it surrounds all the sequins, paper, and other art supplies he has gathered there. Matty jumps high and throws himself into the puddle of glue; he becomes stuck to the desk and cannot move. Matty’s classmates try to dislodge him, but it is no use. His teacher hyperventilates, the school nurse is summoned, as is the principal. At last, Matty has an idea. He instructs his classmates to make the biggest fan they can and wave it at him until his glue dries. They do so, and by the time his glue-loving father arrives to take him home, Matty is dry. He is a solid glue masterpiece. At home Matty’s father slices Matty free and proudly displays the glue project on the refrigerator in a place of pride. This book is suitable for children ages 3-7 years. ( )

I gave this book a four out of five star rating for its descriptive language and detailed illustrations. The book tells the story of Matty, a student in art class who uses way too much glue on his work and now struggles trying to get it off himself because it is so sticky and will not dry. This book can be useful when teachers are trying to teach students how to use art supplies in the classroom, and it can teach students how there are a multitude of ways to be creative with the tools they are given. This book can also be used during a lesson about descriptive language connected to ones senses like touch and sound. ( )

This book helps students understand how to use the glue. There can be excess but they should be taking risks and have fun while creating things they enjoy. ( )
