Religion & Spirituality. Nonfiction. Over the last 500 years, blood-red moons have fallen on the first day of Passover three separate times. These occurrences were connected to some of the most significant days in Jewish history: 1492 (the final year of the Spanish Inquisition when Jews were expelled from Spain), 1948 (statehood for Israel and the War of Independence) and 1967 (the Six-Day War). Every heavenly body is controlled by the unseen hand of God, which signals coming events to humanity. There are no solar or lunar accidents. The next series of four blood moons occurs at Passover and Sukkot in 2014 and 2015. In this riveting book, Hagee explores what these blood moons mean and why Christians must understand these signs and what they bode both for Israel and the world. Joel 2 and Acts 2 both state: "And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness [eclipse] and the moon into blood [eclipse] before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.".… (altro)

Exploring the supernatural connection of certain celestial events to biblical Prophecy.

I am very sorry to have fallen for the publicity and wasted my money on this book. I had not paid much attention to John Hagee for close to 20 years, but had maintained a modicum of respect for him. After all, he is the pastor of a very large mega-church in San Antonio, hosts a weekly TV program of his preaching and has some reputation as a prophecy teacher among evangelicals. As I read through Four Blood Moons, I discovered that he is a strong supporter of Israel. So I did find something of note that is positive in this book.
Other than that? As I have already said, I am sorry I wasted both the time and money to have bought it. To be blunt, I believe that Hagee wrote this for the money. The margins are large, the typeface is large as well, and the actual work that went into the writing minimal. Even the editing was haphazard! There were not a lot of typos, but there were enough to show me that they put a big rush on this to get it on the market as soon as possible.
In all honesty, if you want to get more information, in a better presentation, by someone who thinks through things carefully and logically and who has a much better grasp on the proper uses of prophecy, read Mark Hitchcock's book Blood Moons Rising. I believe that Hitchcock wrote his book, in part, as a response to Hagee's book. Hitchcock's argument is far, far superior to what Hagee has produced. I would almost go so far as to say it is unassailable, except that a real theologian (Because I do not have the credentials or the expertise to call myself even an amateur theologian) will surely find places to argue with Hitchcock.
As I said in my review of Hitchcock's book, I will never again pay any notice to Hagee unless someone for whom I hold a great deal of respect were to tell me that something Hagee has done is worthwhile checking out. Don't waste your money on this book. This is the first time I wished I could give "negative stars". ( )

The premise of the book is based on some of the following scriptures:
Joel 2:31: the sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

Acts 2:20: the sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.

It is Hagee's belief in a prophecy that when four blood moons occur during a lunar eclipse and near in time to the holidays of Passover and Succoth something will occur to or in Israel. The book is written to justify this belief.

Hagee's presentation of the history of Israel up to contemporary times is very interesting. Israel's history is very important in understanding our Judeo-Christian foundation. Many of our values and beliefs are rooted in the history of the Hebrew people.

I would recommend this book to believers and non-believers. I would caution that the author spends a great deal of time justifying the right of the prophecy as mentioned above to exist. At times this becomes boring and overstated. ( )
