This is an edition of an early version of Proust's A l'ombre des jeunes filles en fleurs. It shows the evolution of the text from a basic typescript through various manuscript corrections and editions towards a version which would have been published in 1914, if war had not intervened. Thestages of composition are differentiated by the use of distinctive typefaces.In his introduction the editor deals fully with the problems of Proust's manuscript.
