I thought that because it was an informational chapter book that it would be dull and boring, but it wasn't. One thing I liked about this book was the author's use of illustrations and important pictures. Throughout the chapters when the book would describe key figures who were important in the attack, a drawing of the person would be shown. In some cases, the book would also add a short biography on the individual. The other pictures of maps were very helpful for readers. This allowed them to understand how close the Hawaiian islands were to Japan. I also thought the author used appropriate language for young readers. The book was split into chapter that highlighted main events of Pearl Harbor. The author used very simple and concise words to explain what was going on. The sentences were short and simple instead of long and complex. For example, the author writes "The message went slowly from one office to the next". The main idea of this book was to inform readers about the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. ( ) Patricia Brenan Demuth wrote this book to help explain to younger children what was Pearl Harbor and what happened during that war. The book was not only informational about the war but it gave interesting tidbits about different ships and different boats that were used during the war. For example, the book gave a interesting fact about their was about 350 planes that showed up out of no where which made the U.S. unprepared for what was happening. This is a great way to help children understand events that have happened in our History. HIstory can be a little boring to some children who are younger but with the fun facts and pictures througout the book it grasps the attention of the reader. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
