I checked out a bunch of picture books on Henri Matisse from the library and liked this one was my favorite for its message and the illustrations. ( ) Primary; Historical; This book tells the story of Henri (a famous artist) and the development of his love for art over his life. It begins with his love to paint as a child and ends with his love of cutting things out in his old age. This is a great book to learn about art history and a sweet book about a boy in general. This would be great for students who love art and creating. This is an awesome book of an artist named Henri Matisse. After reading the story of his life, children should have a new respect for art. They will learn that art is not just about painting, but many other forms. Other than the beautiful illustrations, I believe this book to be a great history book of creativity. HENRI'S SCISSORS follows Henri Matisse from his early childhood through to his death. It shows the way he looked at the world and how he made art work, starting with drawing and imitating his mother's painting style, through to his successful career as a painter, to his innovative collage work later in life. It is a wonderful and age appropriate introduction to the artist. It not only teaches about his various periods and styles, but also touches on disability and how to persevere when the way you used to do things is no longer possible. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

"When Henri Matisse was a boy, he drew pictures everywhere. And when he grew up, he became a famous artist whose paintings were beloved around the world. Them late in life, a serious illness confined Henri to just his bed and a wheelchair. But amazingly, from there he created some of his finest works , the enormous and breathtaking paper cut-outs."--Jacket flap. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
