The subtitle is a bit misleading, if you pick it up expecting a rehashing of the few women's stories from the Old and New Testaments. What this book does more than anything is show women how they are empowered through Christ, regardless of what any church culture teaches about women being quiet or submissive or lacking in authority. Just loved every page. I can see that the author is a feminist, but I had a hard time seeing the logic behind her reworking of some Bible verses that make them pro-women versus the patriarchal crap they sound like. I enjoy the author’s blog and her podcast so will continue with more of her work, but I didn’t think this one worked very well for its purpose. This book was meandering, self indulgent, and incredibly poorly researched. All of which is too bad, because a good book on this topic is much needed. As it is, I felt like I read a blogger's prayer journal. Continue your search for a feminist religious study elsewhere, all. Two stars because at least she wasn't angry or antagonistic. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
Gender roles have been debated for centuries, and now Sarah Bessey offers a clarion freedom call for all who want to realize their giftedness and potential in the kingdom of God. Through a thoughtful review of biblical teaching and church practices, Bessey shares how following Jesus made a feminist out of her. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

Jesus Feminist is the first of Sarah’s books that I have read and I loved it. Her writing style is so beautiful and inviting. The pictures she paints with her words completely captured my heart right from the introduction, and so much of what she shared resonated with me.
There is a sweetness to this book that is evident as Sarah shares her own story and the heart of Jesus for the church. I found myself underlining, dog-earing pages, making notes in margins and writing down ideas for ministering often as I read.
Highly recommend. It’s a soul-refreshing read. ( )
