Great premise - original idea, the author constructs a plot that has modern technology go up against superstition, fear and the supernatural. The novel is well written with characters that are well-rounded and a crescendo of a climax that has you glued to the pages. ( ) What a creepy, disturbing book this is. Wonderful, but it does get under your skin. Black Spring is a quaint little village near New York; but it has one attraction that is best kept secret. Black Spring has its own medieval witch haunting and terrorising its habitants. The village and its people are under the witch’s curse and no one can leave it for long, as deep suicidal feelings start to arise. The teenagers are quite fed up with this situation, so they plan to let the whole world know about their witch, so that help can come and they would be finally able to leave the cursed town. But of course, nothing goes to plan. Instead, a horrific set of events are set in motion and dear Lord it is terrifying. The ending is so dark and disturbing! A must read for this spooky season. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

"Welcome to Black Spring, the seemingly picturesque Hudson Valley town haunted by the Black Rock Witch, a seventeenth-century woman whose eyes and mouth are sewn shut. Muzzled, she walks the streets and enters homes at will. She stands next to children's beds for nights on end. Everybody knows that her eyes may never be opened or the consequences will be too terrible to bear. The elders of Black Spring have virtually quarantined the town by using high-tech surveillance to prevent their curse from spreading. Frustrated by being kept in lockdown, the town's teenagers, decide to break their strict regulations and go viral with the haunting. But, in so doing, they send the town spiraling into dark, medieval practices of the distant past."--Jacket. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
