I enjoyed the informational book called “Train Travel” for many reasons. One of the reasons I enjoyed this book was it described the assortment of trains used around the world. It would be very informative for a young reader, who may not realize how many varieties of train models there are, to get more detail about different methods used to power the train. Some examples of these methods are steam, magnet power, electricity, and diesel fuel. It also gave a glossary of terms in the back of the book that would help the reader with any unknown vocabulary. Exploring the geographies of the countries where particular trains travel was also a wonderful facet of this book. The pictures showed how trains and tracks were built or modified to accommodate the different landscapes in that part of the world. Also, in the back of the book there is a map of the continents with the train routes described in the book and are referenced by page number. The big idea of this book is for young readers to explore different trains that are used throughout the continents in our world. ( )
