In this book, Amelia Bedelia goes on a road trip (after she learns that this does not mean tripping on roads). She takes the trip with her family. I have always loved the Amelia Bedelia books for their humor and clever jokes that can typically be applicable to anyone's life. The language used by the author, as well as the development of the character Amelia, give readers a great sense of the type of mischief Amelia gets herself into throughout the book. The black and white doodles throughout the book serve as great assistants to supporting text and urges the reader to learn more. I especially liked the overall message the book suggests, that although some things may not go as planned, what's important is spending time with your family. “Amelia Bedilia Road Trip” teaches students many little lessons throughout the story. The story is meant to be a fun read for young children showing that you do not need to go on a grand vacation to have fun, but rather you can create your own adventures with your family that will have lasting memories. Although Amelia Bedilia and her family just randomly drove and got lost, they were able to meet new friends and have an amazing experience catching a huge fish. This story showed that creating your own adventures can be a lot more fun than planning vacations to far off places, and you do not even need to leave far from home to have fun. This story also teaches children to not take things literally. There are a lot of sayings that may sound like they mean one thing but they are just an expression that mean something else. One such saying was “Let’s go buy some staples” which actually means, “Let’s buy the basic items that we really need. Although that can be confusing to young children, including Amelia Bedilia, it teaches them in a fun way that some things are just expressions and should not be taken literally. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
