First of all, I thought that the illustrations were brilliant. As George and Allie explored the local car wash, the pictures portray every piece of machinery. For example, when the car was put onto the "rails that have rollers on them," the author explained that those rails are called "conveyor belts." Above this line, there was an illustration to show what this looked like. Additionally, when the car went through the "scrubbers," there was an illustration to show which part of the car wash it was. By providing this vocabulary to the readers, it shows that George and Allie learned how to perform their own car wash through learning the vocabulary as well. Secondly, I enjoyed the language of the book. The author used onomatopoeia, such as "Flap! Flap!", "Spish, Spish!", to make the readers aware of the types of noises they will hear in a car wash. This also shows the readers that Allie and George learned the noises as well. Overall, the idea of the story is to explain to readers that by participating in an activity, such as a car wash, one can perform it him or herself. After learning the process of a car wash, the characters were more capable of making their own. ( ) nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
