I thoroughly enjoyed Brothers and Bones. Even though there was violence, the book came across as a easy going tale of woe. I loved Charlie's humour and very often chuckled out loud. Charlie takes you through his journey of misadventure and chaos, while at the same time keeping it down to earth and funny.
I would recommend this book to people who like mysteries, thrillers but without too much blood and gore, but with a tongue in cheek humour. ( )

Brothers and Bones. James Hankins. 2012. Charles Bechram is an assistant U.S. Attorney who has it made. He is dating his boss’s daughter and he is prepared to go to the first day of big trial in which he is prosecuting a major Russian mob boss. As he is just getting ready to board the metro a homeless man brushes against him and called him, Wiley. He is stunned “Wiley” was the pet name brother, Jake called him. Jake disappeared 13 years ago and even though he was declared dead, Charles has never given up hope that Jake is alive. Thus begins a nightmare in which Charles is framed for the murder of his best friend. Jake had been working on an investigation of the Italian mob, and the mob is sure that Charles has a tape that will put all the mob bosses in prison. Charles and the mysterious Bonz must find the tape in order to find out what Jake knew and to clear Jake’s name. This is a suspenseful thriller that is very violent. Some of the plot twists are a little far-fetched and the book drags on a little longer than it should have, but it better than most of the 1.99 novels I’ve downloaded. ( )
