I love sharing this one at my "welcome to the library" storytime, but it actually makes me a little sad on its own. It teaches ridiculous things like "no blowing bubbles at the librarian," but it also gives me the chance to dispel the angry-librarian myth by throwing in my own commentary. ( ) Angela Johnson writes another book with the character Lottie Paris, and this time Lottie goes to the library and meet a friend named Carl. The library is Lottie's favorite place because she is able to discover new books about space. The library is also Carl's favorite place because he is able to discover new books about dinosaurs. Together they both discover that even though it is their special place to go to, it is better when it is shared. I think that shared factor really came into the picture on the last page, when Scott M. Fischer illustrates Carl holding a book about rockets, while Lottie holds onto a wagon with a dinosaur on top. The library is a wonderful place to discover new readings, as well as new friendships. From the title, I thought this book was about Lottie sharing to the audience her best place to be. Instead, Johnson shows how friendships can be created when there are common interests between two people. I like this book because it shows how reading can take children on a journey through imagination. I also like the illustrations and the arrangement of the text. Both illustrations and text depicts the movement of both children in the story. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
