The film is thoroughly pretty, though the story is purposefully very campy. It suffers a bit from a plotwise and pacing-wise weaker first 30-40 minutes (though this is perhaps the prettiest part of the film from a visual standpoint), but by the second half it is exciting and funny and worth the investment of time to get there. Also notable from a technical standpoint as groundbreaking in virtually nothing but the actors being non-CGI. (
