Fantasy
Review: Yoyo offends a customer by refusing a fair price and Brother Coin punishes her market bowl. She takes her stew to Brother Coin and he places his blessing on her market bowl.
Critique: It is a good fantasy because it gives an unrealistic punishment that gets the point across to readers. Yoyo is punished for not accepting a fair price. ( )

Yoyo's mom was teaching her how to make the famous family bitterleaf stew recipe, but Yoyo doesn't have the patience to sit through her mom's lesson. She throws the ingredients into the pot with no rhyme or reason. The resulting stew bad enough to be left to the goats, but Yoyo had other plans and stashed it in the market bag. Her mom teaches that you must never refuse a fair price or Brother Coin, Great Spirit of the Market, will get angry and remove the prosperous blessing from the bowl. At the market, the stew was soon gone and Mama Cecile went in back to wash the dishes. But one more customer came, to whom Yoyo serverd her own creation. He offered a lower price, and before Yoyo could move the bowl, the man dropped the coins into it. As thunder rolled, the blessing was gone and they did not sell any more stew in weeks. Yoyo decided to go visit Brother Coin and ask him to restore the blessing. She used what little she had and road in the trunk of a taxi with the luggage. When she arrived at Coins cave, Yoyo came up with an idea. She was to make him a bowl of soup, and tricks him into blessing the dish. And the stew began to sell again. (Myth) ( )

Yoyo must learn the hard way what is fair after not listening to her mother. This folktale about Brother Coin, Great Spirit of the Market, comes from the people of Cameroon. Readers will be able to learn from Yoyo about patience and being fair. This book is suitable to primary readers. ( )

Fairy tale: The story is about a little girl who is helping her mom make stew so they could sell it in town. The mom makes really good stew and the daughters didn't come out good but it was her first time making it. She still wanted to sell it so she put it in the basket with out her mom knowing. The mom reminded her that they must never refuse a fair price if they did the Great Spirit of the market would get mad and they wont make money. The little girl tried to sell her stew but the man would only pay half the price so she said no and that made the Spirit mad. She had to find a way to say sorry to the Spirit so they could get back to making money.
