One Night with a Cowboy, Cat Johnson's first installment in her new series Oklahoma Nights, is her best work to date and puts her head and shoulders above other authors in the Western romance genre. This unique romance is full of surprises and this dazzling story is sure to delight her fans. If you have not read any of her books, then I highly recommend you begin with this one.

Neither Becca Hart nor Tucker "Tuck" Jenkins are looking for a relationship but their explosive attraction proves too intense to ignore. A year after his divorce from his cheating wife, Tuck has worked through his hurt and anger with a number of one night stands. Becca meets Tuck right on the heels of her breakup with her longtime boyfriend and she is nowhere near ready for a serious romance. So a carefree one night fling is fine with both of them especially since they will never see one another again anyway. Until fate steps in when Becca lands a job at the same university where Tuck also works...

I absolutely adored the pairing of Becca and Tuck. This mismatched and improbable couple have little in common but their intense passion draws them together. Tuck is a quintessential cowboy but there is so much more to him than meets the eye. He is playful, charming and he positively oozes sex appeal. He is also just perfect for Becca.

New York born and bred, Becca is way out of her comfort zone in Oklahoma, but Tuck gladly takes the sexy slicker under his wing and introduces her to country living. Becca is intense and serious and Tuck is exactly what she needs to bring out her long forgotten flirtatious side. She has serious reservations about getting involved with anyone so soon after her breakup but with Tuck, she decides to throw caution to the wind and live in the moment.

But real life soon intrudes on the happy couple. There is the small matter of the no dating rule between co-workers. Becca is hesitant to commit to a serious relationship. Tuck is afraid to admit what he feels for Becca. Tuck soon panics and makes a snap decision that literally tears the couple apart. But a separation proves to be just what Becca and Tuck need to put their lives and their relationship in perspective.

The sexual tension between Becca and Tuck burns so hot I am surprised my eReader did not catch fire! Their sex scenes are positively incendiary and unbelievably sensual. Some of their scenes are exquisitely detailed and leave little to the reader's imagination while others just hint at the delicious lovemaking Becca and Tuck are indulging in.

One Night with a Cowboy is a quick and entertaining read that is absolutely superb. It is exceptionally well-written and full of unexpected twists and turns. I savored every luscious word of this amazing novel and the only thing I hated is that it had to end! But luckily for me, this is just the first installment of Cat Johnson's outstanding Oklahoma Nights series and I am impatiently (but eagerly) awaiting Two Times As Hot. ( )

First, and most importantly, don’t be fooled by the title. This book should be titled One Night with a Former Rodeo Star or One Night with a Soldier, because cowboy this guy ain’t. Not even close at this point in his life.

So walking into the story there’s one expectation exploded. Unlike other books about cowboys, this one only has a rodeo setting for the first few chapters and then switches to the Oklahoma State University at Stillwater where the hero is a ROTC instructor and sponsors the rodeo club.

Unfortunately, this is another in the “great sex will keep us together” stories. And while I definitely believe that great sex will bring couples together, I know they have to have more to keep them that way. Oddly, the hero knows this too since he’s just getting over a rocky divorce.

When Vassar English instructor Becca Hart is laid off after budget cuts, her sister fills out an application for an OSU teaching position. Becca gets an interview, so off she and her sister troop to Stillwater for Becca’s interview.

There they decide to take in a rodeo where they meet part time bull rider Tucker Jenkins who immediately pegs Becca as a high maintenance city girl. But he has sex with her anyway even though in some respects she reminds him of his former wife, who cheated on him while he was deployed in the Army.

A sexy romantic book.

Easy read. Likeable/relateable characters. Story flow is great.

Will definitely be reading for from this author.

Cat Johnson was the first author that introduced me to Cowboy books. Her Cowboys are always fun to read about and Tucker was no exception. Cat’s books are always fun, light and very sexy. This was a lovely, easy read with just enough tension to make sure I never got bored without actually ripping through my emotions. It was classic Cat Johnson (with a bit less sex...I assume a publisher choice!) and I highly recommend.

What I love about Cat Johnson’s Cowboys is that they are totally believable. I know that she sponsors bull riders, so I find that I can immerse myself into the story and completely trust in the details of it. Tucker is a part time bull-rider, part time army man and part time teacher. Basically he was a busy man with jobs that all had a purpose in his character building. The playful bull-rider chatted up Becca at the rodeo and took her back a hotel room. The army boy in him helped her come to terms with her seemingly reckless decision and was a bit of a bossy boots (be still my beating heart).The responsible teacher in him made a really well-meaning, but completely idiotic, decision for the good of Becca (without actually discussing it with her of course). I completely and utterly adored him. He was a lovely smooth Cowboy with a devilishly sexy side and a protective streak a mile wide. As stated before, a lot of the bedroom action happens off the page. Having read this publisher before, I understand that it is standard for their line. It’s Ok....my mind can fill in the blanks... especially with the honey scene *swoon*.

Becca was a good heroine. She started off the book with the typical I can’t have a one night stand attitude but obviously that soon changed. What I like about Cat’s books is there genuinely is no “slut-shaming” in them. It’s OK to like sex for sex, not necessarily wanting it to come with commitment and that is how this tale begins. Of course, it doesn’t quite pan out that way because, let’s be honest, if you end up with a Tucker it’s not going to be a one-night thing. What results is a pretty lovely relationship and what I particularly enjoyed about Becca was her willingness to try. She was upfront about what she wanted from him, without leaving herself closed off for anything further. When he made his ridiculous decision (I cannot reveal....it happens too late on in the book!) I genuinely felt for her. What she went through was an experience that I could never imagine myself in and it was a very brave thing for the author to place within this particular story. My only concern was that I didn’t think it wasn’t dealt with with the depth that it possibly deserved. If it had been, I think it would have felt less like a plot point and more like an experience that I, as a reader, needed to be concerned about.

I liked them together and that is the main thing. They had chemistry from the moment their eyes met across a crowded rodeo and it was well maintained throughout the novel. There were some genuinely heart-warming moments alongside the steamy ones and the combination of the two left me with a feel-good tale that is just what I wanted to curl up in bed with. The main romance was supported by a couple of well-written side characters and I particularly enjoyed Logan (his book is next). It always helps when I like everyone else in the book as it means I will definitely continue on with the series.

This is a book brimming with sexy Cowboys and Army boys. With a delightfully light romance and a heap of compelling characters, it will definitely be a series I continue with.

From start to finish this book held my interest on so many different levels. We have a cowboy who is also serves in the military. We have a college professor from a big city that moves to Oklahoma to teach. We have a hot yet sweet romance between two very interesting characters with a story line that kept me from sleep just so I could finish their book.

The instant attraction between Becca and Tucker felt real and not at all cheesy. I totally love the vibe these two have. Then the emotions they dealt with when they realized that it wasn’t going to be a one night fling were spot on. I think what touched me the most was when Tucker was back in Afghanistan. The way the missed each other was just wonderful.

I am very impressed with the way this story just continued to flow even when there were twists I didn’t expect. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series as well anything else this author writes. ( )
