Molly Hatfield comes to Arizona Territory seeking stability and security. But living in Cactus Patch provides her with more than she ever dreamed of.

There is nothing Molly wouldnÃ?t do for her teenaged brother, Donny. Blaming herself for the accident that left him wheel-chair bound, Molly has dedicated her life to his care. But in 1896, gainful employment for a woman is hard to come by. So when Molly learns that an eccentric rancher in Cactus Patch, Arizona, is looking for an heiressâ??someone to take over management of the ranch in exchange for future ownershipâ??she jumps at the chance to provide a real home for her brother.

If she proves to have a knack for ranching and agrees to remain single for life, the ranch can be hers. Neither stipulation worries Molly. SheÃ?s resourceful and hardworking. And she gave up dreams of marriage long ago when she dedicated her life to her brotherÃ?s well-being.

However, Molly didnÃ?t bank on meeting Dr. Caleb Fairbanks, the townÃ?s handsome and charismatic young doctor. Caleb has a way with Molly that makes her nervous. But itÃ?s how he is with her brother that really alarms her. Caleb sees past the wheelchair and genuinely likes Donny, but Molly fears heÃ?s putting unrealistic ideas into her brotherÃ?s head. Falling in love with Caleb would threaten everything sheÃ?s worked for, even her brotherÃ?s future happiness.

But it could be the very reason God brought her… (altro)

An enjoyable story set the the late 1800's in Cactus Patch, Arizona. Although this is in a series, you can easily real it as a stand alone story.

Molly Hatfield answers an ad and moves her and her crippled brother to a cattle ranch in Arizona. She has no real qualifications to learn how to run a cattle ranch but none the less she is given a chance to see if she has what it takes. Her boss is the owner of the ranch and she is quite a tough lady, but Molly is determined to make a stable life for her and her brother.

What Molly wasn't counting on was the new town doctor, Caleb Fairbanks, who she doesn't trust very much. But Caleb wants to help her brother learn to do more for himself and improve his quality of life. It is a constant struggle between Molly letting go and giving her brother a chance to learn to take care of himself. Sparks fly, but the attraction is definitely there. I had a good time reading this story and enjoyed the characters in this book, some more than others. I also really enjoyed the dog, Magic and the blind horse, Orbit. It was a nice touch to the story. Life in 1896 could be difficult under the best of circumstances, but for Molly Hatfield and her brother, Donny, life was especially hard. Their parents were dead and Donny had lost the use of his legs many years ago which had left him confined to a wheel chair. Molly worked in a saloon and devoted herself to caring for her brother. A fire causes them to leave their home in Dobson Creek, Colorado. Molly had learned of a rancher who was looking for an heiress. Specifically, the heiress was required to prove she could manage the ranch in Cactus Patch, Arizona and once done, she would eventually own it. The arrangement did not come without conditions. Waiting For Morning , by Margaret Brownley, is their story.

Desperate to provide a home for Donny, Molly convinces the owner of the ranch, Miss Walker, to give her a chance to learn what she needed to secure the position of heiress. Life at Cactus Patch was exhausting for Molly. She was physically drained from the hard work on the ranch and from providing care for her brother. As an additional complication, Dr. Caleb Fairbanks enters their lives and tries to offer both Molly and Donny the love and hope that neither believed they would ever have again. His efforts are met with resistance.

This is a story that is worth telling and it is beautifully told. The book is populated with believable characters who face adversity, fear, danger and hopelessness with courage. Multiple points of view are used to tell the story and there are no stereotypes here. This a story of inspiration and I highly recommend reading this book
