What can fossil teeth tell you about an animal's diet? How are fossils formed? These and many other questions are covered in Sally Markle's informational text. Just right for most third graders, text is sparse on the page, generally with no more than three sentences per page. While the book covers a good deal of ground, with plenty of accompanying stock photos, the economical language allows little room for deeper elaboration. The strongest areas of the book are where the photos reinforce the language, such as the diagram about how fossils are formed and the section on fossil fragility and transportation. Review copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.com. (23) ( ) This is PERFECT BOOK for the young paleontologist. Pictures and text go so well together to explain the different fossils (animal trails, plant and animals). As a librarian, I appreciate the well written titles, making it easy for kids to find the information they want. The chapter “Do Bones Really Turn into Stone” does an excellent job explaining the process of fossilization. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Fossils give us a window to the past. Water, sediments, and pressure work together over time to preserve the shape of things that lived long ago. Studying these ancient plants and animals tells us more about our own existence. Have you ever searched for fossils? Unearth some in this book. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
