I accidentally ordered this because a friend wanted to read another Eve story together (which happens to also be a trilogy). I picked up this one by accident, read it, and then read the one my friend intended which was also pretty boring to me. It gets a two because the author can write peppy dialogue and action, and has obvious skill in fast- pacing or slowing a story. I was disappointed because while the protagonist, Eve, starts out with a promise of depth, she turns out to be every tough girl's dream alter ego. She knows like eight martial arts, and can shoot a gun, and talk mean, and doesn't need to eat much, and is desired by all men. I would have preferred her be valued for something other than her ovaries, however. Just a preference. The bad guys in this story are predictably TOTALLY bad. Flawless Eve and her lovers have TOTAL good to help us readers cheer them on, likewise. It was clearly a fun story for the author to write, and the sex scenes were pretty graphic too. It loses three stars due to cliched and offensive use of Muslims as the "bad guy" origin. There are simply too many anti-Muslim references for me to feel comfortable buying into what appears to be pro-Catholic, anti-Muslim propaganda. Godwin makes the good guys 100% good and the bad guys 100% bad, and this is unfortunate because she might actually be a good writer if she didn't use the story to merely indulge in the best possible sex world for heterosexual, image-centric woman, and to possibly take revenge against Muslims via literature. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

I was so thoroughly consumed by Pam Godwin's ability to create this new world where Evie is the only female survivor of an outbreak that swept throughout the whole world. This unique plot is filled with twists and turns, and will keep you guessing until the very end. Prepare to fall in love with this story that falls into so many categories it has created its own.
Pam Godwin is a favorite of mine, and she did not disappoint here either. I cannot wait to read the next installment to see where Pam takes Evie next. ( )
