The war is over and the world is saved. The supes have been beaten down so far they'll never get up again. So why would anyone want one hundred and eighteen metric tons of the only substance on earth that can kill them all stone dead? Bad days start coming thick and fast, as the Boys are caught in the last throes of the battle they were recruited to fight so long ago. Hughie, all on his own and out of luck, finds himself walking down one last bloody trail -- and the truth he finds waiting for him at the end of it will be nothing short of shattering! Billy Butcher's vengeance comes full circle, in this twelfth and final entry in the story of The Boys.… (altro)

Great ending! Sad to see it go ( )

And so it ends. We already had one heck of a climax in [b:The Boys, Volume 11: Over the Hills with the Swords of a Thousand Men|13609842|The Boys, Volume 11 Over the Hills with the Swords of a Thousand Men|Garth Ennis|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1334929437l/13609842._SY75_.jpg|19207456], but now we have to deal with the fallout of that--and a few remaining twists to find along the way. After all, there are still supes about. And as I've been saying the entire time: the Boys *are* supes.

Some thoughts:

* It was a nice sendoff to each of the Boys, although did they really have to all die except Hughie?
* Mother's Milk's Mother is terrifying
* Oh Hughie; you deserved better
* Oh Butcher; we never realized just how much you'd planned this whole mess out

A satisfying conclusion.

Pretty pictures/spoilers:

So that's one way that Pelosi becomes the president.

So... yeah. The public doesn't really care that much about truth, which is depressing to read in it's own right.

Oh Frenchie. You (and the Female) are so rediculous in this version. And so fun to read.

re-insert them in the wrong sockets

I do love his turns of phrase.

More like the Jews killin' the Nazis, if you stop an' think about it.

That's an interesting thorugh really. If, during the Holocaust, the Jews were given the tools to erridcate the Nazis, including even those only tangentially involved--should it be used? Is it good or evil to do so?

And now we figure out that little bit of backstory and what was behind it all along... and it all comes down to money.

He's like a Supe. Hughie realizes it, to some level Butcher realized it all along. And now he's dealing with one last Supe.

There's some nice symmetry here with Butcher and Becky. A good note to go out on. He went about it in an absolutely terrible way, but Butcher had a good reason at least for doing what he did. ( )

And after the grand finale, there's some mopping up to be done... of blood, entrails and other ruined body parts. Not sure this ending was entirely earned and some of it was just mean-spirited but at least Billy Butcher went out with a bang. I live the idea that men without women are just boys, but I'm not sure how committed to that romantic notion Ennis really is. It's a good line, but not good enough to explain away all the violent mayhem that preceded it. Still, a better way to end the series than some I might have imagined. ( )
