She gets a new pony in the farm and teaches it how to be a riding pony. ~ borrowed from the Library THE NEW PONY is at the beginning 2nd Grade reading level and it has 588 words. The girls have a treat in store as a new Palomino pony named Taffy is coming to the farm. Taffy is mostly trained but there are still instructions to learn. Jill's mom asks her to help out and at first it seems scary as the pony bolts. All ends well after Jill heeds her mother's advice to be patient, and after her friends encourage her to try again. For the horsey crowd this is a nice series. It tends to skew girlie as there are no male characters to speak of. The entire series is at the beginning Second Grade reading level which is good if you are looking for a steady supply of practice readers. There are currently 9 books in the series. Observant children will learn something about riding and horse/pony care from the text and pictures. The tone is sugary sweet but I still like how the friends are totally supportive of one another. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
"The Pony Scouts are becoming better at riding with every lesson. But just when they think they've seen it all, a new horse arrives on Jill's farm--one who hasn't been ridden before! Taffy is a beautiful palomino pony that needs Jill's help. With a little patience and a lot of love, Jill and the Pony Scouts will make Taffy a member of the family."--Dust jacket.
