His Brother's Bride is the fourth book in the Banks Brothers Bride Series by Rose Gordon. I have read all four of them now and loved everyone of them. If you are a fan of historical romances and have not yet checked out any of Rose Gordon's books I highly recommend you do so. I have certainly become a fan of her style of writing a humorous and extremely entertaining story. I have more of her books in my to be read pile and I can't wait to read them. I am sure they are going to be just as wonderful as the whole Banks Brothers Bride series has been. I have to admit when I first meet Laura I didn't much like her. I thought she was offish with the attitude of a snob. However as the story went on I grew fond of Laura and understood that she was not purposely rude or unkind she had a rough life and was never treated as she meant anything to anyone. This poor young woman had been so abused by her husband and family that she has no idea what a real relationship with a husband or family can be like. I admired Laura and her strength she had to endure all she has been through. Much like Henry's feelings for Laura I grew to love her as time went on, I loved how she grew as the story unfolds. Henry Banks is the twin brother of Elijah who's story was told in His Jilted Bride, and the son of Edward and Regina who's story was told in His Contract Bride. Henry is a jolly fellow who takes things in stride. When Laura showed up on his door step with a contract to marry his recently married brother, Henry takes on the situation. As he is trying to derail Laura's plan to marry his brother he finds himself with feelings for Laura. I so loved watching this relationship grow and unfold. Henry is so kind and loving that he shows Laura the way a husband should treat a wife. These two have a HUGE hurdle they must overcome in order to make it to their happily ever after. That is where one of the things I loved about this book comes into play. With love almost anything is possible and has Henry says anything can be forgiven. Over all my opinion on this book has been the same on every book though out the whole series, I could not get enough of this family! I loved the Banks brothers and their Brides. I can not wait to read more by Rose Gordon. I enjoy her flow of telling a story, her humor that I found myself laughing out loud while read, and the characters she creates that makes you feel as if you have just met new friends when you start a new book. I know I will be reading more books by Rose Gordon (some are already in my to read pile so stay tuned for those reviews). nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

While traveling around America, Elijah Banks makes a promise he's unable to keep. So to guard his family's name and his sister-in-law's feelings, Henry Banks tells this beautiful stranger that he is the brother she seeks and impulsively agrees to marry the stunning beauty who introduces herself as Elijah's intended. It might have been a while since she'd last seen the twins in New York, but she knows it's Henry who is claiming to be Elijah—she just doesn't care. One Banks brother is as good as the next, as far as she's concerned. Her near ensnarement of and marriage proposal from Elijah was just part of her plan to seek revenge on their family, but Henry will suffice just as well. When Elijah and his new wife return from their recent trip to Italy, he has a lot of explaining to do. Especially, when, for the safety of his entire family, he has to reveal what he knows about this American beauty: including her plan for revenge. Now, without giving away either his identity or his heart, Henry must find a way to dissuade his wife from revenge—but he's soon finding that ideas are easier formed than executed and with each attempt to change her mind, he loses a little more of his heart to this enchanting creature. Not the dimwit everyone has treated her as her entire life, she knows exactly what her husband is about. But while her mind refuses to accept his advances, her heart can't deny them. Everything from his carefree manner to his genuine gestures is a stark contrast to the man she'd been married to before. But when when her opportunity to seek revenge presents itself, she must decide if it's revenge she longed for, or the love of a good man, because even she knows she can't have both. Henry Banks knew this woman’s type. A beauty for sure, but the cutting tongue soured that and he could not wait to be done with her as soon as he could while pretending to be his twin. Surely after spending the day with him she would forget about trying to tie down his brother, not that his newlywed twin was in danger of that happening anyway. Something about the woman intrigued him and despite his intentions, she got under his skin. What would happen, though, when she learned his true identity?
I really, really enjoyed this story! Laura was a hard heroine to cheer for at first. Her devious plans were obvious and malicious, but as she opened her heart and herself to passion I could feel both empathy and excitement for what was ahead for her. Henry was a bit sly and sneaky as well, but his desire to protect his family from whatever scheme Laura was up to was very well delivered and the battle within him when he learns more of the truth was captivating to read. Laura’s changes and Henry’s persistence were the perfect blend for these characters to find acceptance, forgiveness and love.
