I thought this was a pretty cute book. Those pigs surely did plan an escape and succeeded! I thought it was great that Christelow had two pigs escape at a time instead of all at once -- it was funnier this way! I liked how she ended the book-- with a postcard sent to Ethel and Bert from the pigs in Florida. ( )

Bert and Ethel live on a farm and grow vegetables. Bert suggests maybe raising pigs on their farm, Ethel would rather not. Bert brings six piglets to the farm and Ethel says they look like trouble but they are cute. Bert says they will be pork chops in eight months so don't fall in love. Few months later Bert says the pigs look like they are big enough to sell and Ethel says shhh they will hear you saying that. That night the pigs make a lot of noise and Ethel says i bet they are planning something. The next day the pigs ran around crazy and they had to get neighbors to help them load up the pigs into truck. They couldn't find the lock for tailgates so they tied them together with a rope. Tail gate comes untied and when they stop at gas station two pigs escape. Then they stop at a store and two more pigs escape and the last two escape near railroad crossing. When Bert and Ethel arrive to auction yard they discover the pigs are gone. While they are driving around looking for pigs they see two hitchhikers (pigs in clothes). Store owners are complaining their clothes were stolen of the displays, another lady at the dry cleaner was missing clothes and the man by rail road crossing had scarecrows missing clothes. The whole town was looking for pigs, clothes and hats. Several passengers got onto the bus without tickets. After weeks of searching, no pigs were found. Post Office gets a package addressed to people missing clothes. Bert and Ethel go to post office to see if there is anything for people missing pigs. There was a postcard addressed to Bert and Ethel of a sunset on a beach and it said oink. I recommend this book to grades K- 3. The plot of this book was very adventurous. This book would be humorous and entertaining for children. ( )

This is a book about a farmer who brings 6 pigs back to his farm and raises them. One day, he mentions to his wife about bringing the pigs to market. That evening, the pigs plot a way to escape and execute their plan the next morning. When the farmer's truck makes stops at various places, slowly some of the pigs escape and steal clothes to conceal themselves. In the end, the pigs send the stolen clothes back to their owners and send a postcard to the farmer's.... from Florida! ( )
