I really love the writing, the darkness, the edginess, and the maturity. Wonder Woman is no longer a comic book for kids, as it should be. She deals with Greek mythology. If you actually read the tales, they are very graphic. Wonder Woman get close to the graphic parts, but still keeps it PG-13. What I love most about this volume is how much it reads like the Sandman comics. The gods and their relationships remind me of the Endless. And the new look to the gods are clever too. My only complaint is that it is a quick read and wish they were longer, but that's just a minor complaint. I know there are some fans who don't like the change, but I think they should accept this change. I still hold my ground that it's not that different from the original creation. She's still Wonder Woman after all. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
Wonder Woman goes to hell! After playing Poseidon, Hades, and Hera against each other, Hades strikes back by kidnapping Zola and trapping her in the Underworld. It's up to Wonder Woman-with a little help from the God of Love and the God of Smiths-to break Zola out. But what is Hades' real game, and once you get into the land of the dead, how exactly do you get out? Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

Many folks are uncomfortable with the "retelling" of the amazon mythology but in some versions of the myth, no men were permitted to have sexual encounters or reside in Amazon country; but once a year, in order to prevent their race from dying out, the Amazons visited the Gargareans, a neighboring tribe. I mean, where did you think the Amazons came from? Are they all Goddesses?
There were two special months in the spring in which they would go up into the neighboring mountain which separates them and the Gargareans. The Gargareans also, in accordance with an ancient custom, would go there to offer sacrifice with the Amazons and also to have intercourse with them for the sake of begetting children. They did this in secrecy and darkness, any Gargareans at random with any Amazon, and after making them pregnant they would send them away. Any females that were born are retained by the Amazons themselves, but the males would be taken to the Gargareans to be brought up; and each Gargareans to whom a child is brought would adopt the child as his own, regarding the child as his son because of his uncertainty.
To the naysayers, I'd say take a look at the ancient mythology this series is drawing from. You'll learn much. ( )
