I thought this book was a pretty cute one. It is a graphic novel so it is a pretty short read. The content of it is cute, but it does make mention of historical figures and events over the past few years. It could be used to teach about history, but it could also be used to teach about competition and sportsmanship as it is a tale of running for student council. It also is a series book which is good for using the books to learn more. ( )

I love Babymouse, she is a pretty good heroine. She never gives up and always gives positive messages to her fans.

Jennifer L. Holm and Matthew Holm’s popular Babymouse series returns to find Babymouse inspired to run for school president. As usual she comes up against foe and fellow candidate, Felicia (a cat, no less), and battles her own self doubt about her abilities and her ever-messy whiskers. To make matters worse, even her locker runs against her. Babymouse must once again rely on her delightful imagination to conquer her fears and dazzle the student body with a rousing speech during debates.
As always the Holm siblings fight the good fight by creating a relatable character for young girls to use as their gateway drug (if you will) into graphic novels. While the story is as fun and silly as readers have come to expect from the Babymouse series, there are some concepts within the text that could be useful in the classroom. Teachers may be inspired to make room in their social studies curriculum to start a conversation with their class regarding politics, elections and beliefs. Readers may enjoy debating what kind of speech they’d make in order to win votes. Would they try to appeal to the masses and offer ice cream and empty promises, like Felicia? Or would they try to embody the spirit of change and democracy like Babymouse? ( )

The sixteenth book in the adorable BabyMouse series meant to transition young girls into both higher level reading and the world of graphic novels. In this installment BabyMouse decides to run for class president because she wants the power to do ridiculous things like abolish homework. But over the course of the story she learns that winning the most votes is hard and being president is more than just power, but the ability to help the people you represent. The art is simple with bold lines and the only color used is pink and it is used to tag BabyMouse herself. She has a pink heart on her dress in the real world and in her imagination, all of the illustrations become pink. All of the characters are talking animals or objects such as her locker who is also running for president. There are references to actual politics within the text such as Tammany Hall and a replica of the Obama Change poster with BabyMouse and her catchphrase. The references might go over the head of some audience members, but others might be inspired to ask questions. It’s the perfect for imaginative girls looking for a quick story to read. Recommended. Babymouse is a fearless female mouse that decides to run for President. She dreams of her face up on Mt Rushmore. She wants to change the way things are in school so running for President is her best bet.

Babymouse is a fearless female protagonist and can be a good role model for young girls. She can do anything the boys can do and I think it's important for girls to read stories like these. This is also a graphic novel with fun cartoon-like pictures so it is entertaining for anyone to read.
