Don't like to read stories of people being taken advantage of as the poor woman was in this story. The whole atmosphere was too gloomy for my taste. She was the only character in the novel I could empathize with and she just seemed to be headed for disaster. Also, as another reviewer mentioned, the author is very repetitive in this book. She states over and over how much the woman loves her husband and would do anything for him. I found this very tiring after awhile, which added to the overall sense of doom and gloom. I also got tired of the course language and constant emotional aggression between people which I thought was overdone. I enjoyed 2 of Martina Cole's earlier novels, however: The Ladykiller and Goodnight Lady. ( ) This is the first of Martina Cole's book that I have read and I just raced through it. Good book. Language is very strong and very British. Back Cover Blurb: Donna Brunos worships her husband and is devastated when he is jailed for eighteen years on a charge of armed robbery. Georgio swears he's been set up and - terrified he won't survive the rigours of Parkhurst - persuades Donna to help him escape. Implementing the daring plan takes Donna into a twilight world she never believed existed - a world of brutal sex and casual violence. Finally, she is confronted by a series of shattering revelations that threaten not only everything she believes in but also, ultimately, her own life. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
