I doubt very much that you have come across an autobiography quite like this one. Dare i say that Douglas was a real card. But don't be put off by hie high-jinks. He was a writer of first-rate abilities, and deserves to be better known here in the Republic. I didn't hear hide nor Hare of Douglas as a student of 20th C. literature. Same for Compton Mackenzie. I found them all by my lonesome including Robert Lynd and S.P.B. Mais. I'll add Arthur Bingham Walkley just for good measure - though you could say he straddled the two centuries. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
