I loved this book and the world that it is set in. The writer manages to create a world with no humans, yet doesn't fall back on the cats/mice/birds/dragons/fairies are the dominate species. She created something entirely new yet entirely relatable.

I hope this series continues--it has been added to my auto-buy list. Lovely ( )

An absolutely lovely third entry in a wonderful series! I like this one even better than book 2, though it competes with book 1 for my favorite so far!

The plot is wonderful, with more of Moon struggling to fit in and retain who he is, and feeling a pull between the people he cares for and his responsibilities, as well as his compassion for strangers. Both the old and new cast are wonderful, and there are so many good new characters and wonderful stories for returning ones. One of my favorite parts is how much this book is a return to an emphasis on Moon being bisexual/pansexual, and focuses in particular on his relationship with Chime, which is really lovely. Moon's relationship with Jade is also very sweet, funny, and painfully good. Moon's relationships with Stone, Malachite, Celadon, Shade... all of it is wonderful . Moon is just such a good character and it's fun to see his trials and tribulations, and how he works through them, with help from everyone around him - or in spite of them.

This series continues to remind me a lot of Murderbot - understandably - and the "Gargoyles" animated TV series (minus the pop culture and history references). So if folks are interested in those, there's more of that here.

All in all, a great entry. I look forward to book 4! ( )

This is the book where we finally find out where Moon came from and the how and why of the never.How I have been waiting >_o

The book opens as Moon is starting to settle into his role as a consort and with the customs of the Raksura.He is still a bit concerned about him and Jade not being able to concieve a child yet. But otherwise things are good,the raksura court is thriving and the Fell are keeping away.

Then some visitors from another court arrives with a message that Moons birthcourt has been found and they want him back.

Moon isnt too happy about this since he feels that they abandoned him as a child and anyways hes happy enough where he is.

But in the end he is made to go there so as not to start trouble
But he cant help but feel anxious about the way things are progressing,since the visitor also brought along a new young consort,as a replacement for Moon it would appear.

Even if Jade assures him she loves him and will get him back no matter what...he cant help but have this uneasy feeling that once again he is not wanted.

He arrives at Opal Night and finds out he has relatives and try to fit in until Jade can arrive and bring him home again.

But Opal Night as the court is called is harboring a dark secret...and the Fell are never too far away.

Last book I complained about Moon being so unrelying and unsure about Jades and the other Raksuras affection and support.

But I think I am starting to understand why he feels this way. After being rejected by so many people,trust is not something that comes easy for him.Even if he can turn into a winged being with claws you would just like to give him a hug sometimes.

Its saying something to the credit of the writer that she makes us believe in Moon being able to have these traditionally female traits and still be able to kick ass. Much to the astonishement of other Raksura. Male Raksuras are supposed to be shy and demure...and Moon is anything but.

And we also learn more about the Raksura and what makes them tick.

I feel that just because the Raksura arent human,I can accept some of their customs and how they feel. Even if some of their ways are a bit eyebrow raising.Some of them have a very liberal view on sex.Moon has an offer of sex from another consort.Dont worry he declines it.He doesnt even freak out...because obvioiusly...yeah they are a really "social" species

The author brings attention to our prejudice with Moon having a conversation with Chime and some other Raksuras about a groundling mating costume.They all find it very weird.

Apperantly these groundlings have to go through a ceremony before they can get pregnant...and if they have sex before this ceremony no one else will agree to be their mate.

*hint* its old fashioned marriage.

Something that I didnt like though was the Fell reappearing again,dont get me wrong though they are good villains and truly horrifying,but I would have wanted more interaction between Moon and his relatives. I felt that having go off to fight against the Fell was a bit too similar to the last book (even if the Fells motives this time was completely different)

I hope there is a fourth book.I want to find out if Jade and Moon has babies... ( )

In the third installment of the Books of the Raksura, Moon is starting to settle into his role as a consort of the Indigo Cloud court - despite his worries about his possible infertility - when he is unexpectedly claimed by the much larger court of Opal Night. He is forced to leave Jade, Chime, and his other friends behind and journey with hostile strangers to the other court, where he soon discovers that all is not as it appears and that all of the Raksura may soon be facing a much larger threat from their old enemy, the Fell.

The Siren Depths was a solid entry in the series. While it did not contain as much world-exploration and meeting of different species as the previous two books, it made up for it with more exploration of what everyday life is like at a Raksuran court. This is something I had been hoping for, so I was happy to see it. The Fell appeared in a somewhat more nuanced form, as Wells began to explore their shared ancestry with the Raksura. I did feel that this story dragged a bit more than the previous two, and I personally was more interested in how Moon and Jade were going to resolve their issues with Opal Night than I was with the Fell conflict. But there were more flying ships (never a bad thing), more of Chime (my favourite secondary character - and I was rather gratified to see that my hunch about his relationship with Moon was correct), more of Stone being cranky and awesome, and I am still looking forward to reading the rest of this series. I would recommend it. ( )

Really enjoyed a world where the populations are diverse as heck, and the stories were excellent as well. ( )
