This book is a wonderful demonstration of hard work. It tells the story of Michael Jordan and his past. The book was written by his mother which allows you to see him through her eyes. Michael Jordan has always been my favorite player so seeing his hard-work makes me look up to him even more. This book can be used to teach children about good values and perseverance. ( )

He had some setbacks but continue to push on knowing he can do anything he sets his mind to. I can use this book to show students how to persevere. I could also use this to teach about how sometimes things seem to hit you hard, but it could be for the better. This book is a good example of informational texts because the entire story is true. Another reason this is a good example is that the story is very captivating yet tells facts.

The story of Michael Jordan as a kid, written by his mother, is terrific because you really feel how importance of hard work to achieve goals. Making choices, determination, and the necessity of guidance are demonstrated messages that young kids will benefit from hearing, seeing, and living. ( )

Michael Jordan didn't just put on his tennis shoes and become a great NBA player. His mom, Deloris Jordan, penned this story to show how hard he really worked to become the excellent player he is now. She supported Michael's dream to be on the U.S. Olympic basketball team but always insisted he finish his school work before going to practice or out to play.
