I bought this as a Christmas gift for a family member, and decided to read over it before wrapping. I'm a novice to cooking shows and blogs, however I enjoyed reading about Ree Drummond's life. Through her stories and photos, the book feels not only like a cookbook, but also a letter from a friend. A lot of the recipes have a tex-mex style. There's a little something for everyone, from healthy corn salad, to baked goods. If she hasn't done so already, I'd love for her to create a cookbook of her former city girl vegan recipes. She stresses that her family would never eat them, but the rest of us might! nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
Elenchi di rilievo
In her folksy, wonderfully engaging voice, Drummond shares how she learned to cope with the isolation and peculiarities of an Oklahoman ranch life, from chasing beavers out of the pond and saddling horses, to cooking for a man who believes the sun rises and sets in a steak and baked potato. Includes delicious recipes such as cowboy calzones, pioneer woman's ribeye steaks, cheese grits, fresh blackberry cobbler, pico de gallo, and Iny's prune cake. I remember when I first stumbled upon Ree's now-famous website a couple of years ago: I was blown away by the photography and how funny she is.
But that got boring.
And she never improved.
The recipes are boring and most of them are available on her website. And I'm sick of her never referring to her husband by his real name. This isn't Sex and the City, Ree.
If I had to describe this in one word? Amateur at best.
