David Beckham is one of the world's foremost media icons, his popularity transcending sport and cultural divides. This is his own in-depth account of his career to date, for Manchester United and England, and of his childhood, family and personal life. With endless newspaper column inches devoted to one of the most talked about men in the world, it seems that we know everything there is to know about David Beckham. Or do we?This is Beckham's fascinating life story in his own words. His complex relationship with United boss Alex Ferguson and how he handles the pressure of playing alongside some of the most volatile footballers of his generation. The England story, from being vilified by the nation before returning as the prodigal son and almost single-handedly guiding his country as captain to the 2002 World Cup Finals. One minute we are singing his praises; the next we are castigating him for losing control of his temper and being a poor role model. Where does the truth lie?Now from Beckham himself, we gain a vivid and at times searingly honest insight into the family man behind the famous footballer, the international model and fashion leader. He describes how he first met and the… (altro)

Well written (thank you Tom Watt for the input). He seems to be the genuine person that he would like to be seen as. I would be interested to read part two in a decade or so. ( )

This primarily is a picture book. This isn't a huge read but for any David Beckham football fan this is a must. The picture's related to Beckham's playing career and deals with the photos through the 20 years of playing for a variety of clubs. There are a few pictures of family and other times but the majority are from great footballing moments. I am a huge Beckham fan and have followed his career through all the clubs he played for. I thoroughly enjoyed the antidotes that he shared with his readers and the photos of the footballing moments in his career. A thoroughly enjoyable book. ( )

I love this book, it's my absolutely favourite! David Beckham is my biggest idol since I was a kid, and it was so enjoyable to read his story. ( )

The title of the book I read was David Beckham: my side. The author of this book is David Beckham. The genre of the book is an autobiography. The main character of this book is David Beckham. This book is an autobiography so there’s really no setting. In this book David Beckham talks about his life and how he stared playing as a little kid to becoming a pro. The conflict in this book is when David Beckham talks about how injuries throughout his soccer career have affected his career. The theme of this book is that is that if you want to become whatever you want you need to work hard for it. I recommend this book to everyone who like soccer and to people who like to read stories about famous soccer players and what they sacrifice to become a pro. ( )
