"MY BODY unlocks a free 16-page digital companion book offering even more information, photos, and videos!
MY BODY answers children's questions about their own bodies in a incredibly simple and appropriate way. Each spread is focused on a particular part of the body or movement a child understands. Body actions such as breathing, the food journey, and blood are touched on, as well as fun subjects such as hiccups, earwax, and goosebumps. The simple text is perfect for beginning readers. The photographs provide impact for children less interested in reading with big, bright pictures of the inside and outside of the body." -- Annapolis Valley Regional Library

This book discusses the human body in a way that children can understand. A few topics the book discusses are health, bones and other body parts, breathing, growing, and the senses. The main idea of this book is to provide children with understandable information about their body so that they can help take care of themselves and better understand how their body works. ( )

This book has its ups and its downs. I think it's pretty cool, because it introduces kids to diagrams and informational text. Each page talks about different types of your body including; hair, skin, lungs, heart, etc. It also briefly discusses things like healthy eating and hygiene. These are all great pieces of information for any child. The draw back to this particular book is that the layout on each page can be quite overwhelming. For example, the page on seeing is scattered with different information and there is no general structure to guide the reader. I suppose this book could be used to just flip through and not really need to guide the reader, but I prefer some kind of easy to read layout. I think each reader will have to decipher for themselves whether or not this book will work for them or not. ( )

The cover says a lot about the contents of the book. The illustrations are a perfect blend between real life shots and drawings. They capture a child but then show their insides by drawing an accurate picture. While it's not "real" it gives the idea of what's going on inside. I think that was a wise move because it gets children interested but not nervous explore the human body. I also love that they use children in the pictures because it's children who are going to read the text. Some of the topics include bones, how we breathe, blood, your brain, healthy eating, etc. The pages are not filled with text but have a nice combination between pictures and words. If I'm ever in need of a very detailed book about the body this one would be excellent. ( )
