Walking Turtle knows he received the perfect name at his naming ceremony because he always carries his cousin, born with a crooked leg, everywhere on his back. Both members of the Lenni Lenape tribe, the boys eat, sleep and play together. However, when it is time for Walking Turtle to go to Warrior School, both boys know that their lives together will be changed forever.
