Lovestrong is an inspiring true story of the struggle for a woman to become a doctor in the early 70's when medical schools tried very hard to discourage women from becoming a doctor. Dorothy Greenbaum had been a school teacher when she realized that wasn't what she was destined to do-- she knew she wanted to be a doctor. Juggling married life with a young daughter, she enrolled to become a physician. She details all of the obstacles that were in here way including those posed by the university itself. She was a picture of grit and determination to accomplish her dream, and it helped that she had a very supportive husband who helped her to achieve her goal. Great book. ( )
