I was introduced to the Secret series when I was looking for a book for my 11-year-old son to read that would get his creative juices flowing. I am an "old lady" and I am in love with this Secret Series. This series follows 3 middle school children from different cultural backgrounds, Cass, Max-Ernest, and Yo-Yoji, and their many adventures as members of a secret Terces Society. The Terces society is attempting to prevent the mysterious "secret" from being discovered by the evil members of the Midnight Sun. The series consists of 5 books that are based upon a secret. What is that secret? It is said to be the formula for immortality. The novels are all based on the five senses: "The Name of this Book is a secret" is based on Smell. "If you're reading This, It's too Late" is based on sound. "This Book Is Not Good for You" is based on taste. "This Isn't What it Looks Like" is based on sight. Then the final book "You have to Stop This" is based on touch. I love these books for a science or math class, really for any middle school classroom. The writer really makes the reader think and use his mind. It is a great way to get the students interested in using their minds to solve real world problems.
